Biography
Joseph D. Ready
is an energetic young man looking to make his political start in Boston. Originally from Chelmsford,
Massachusetts, he is the son of Dennis and Donna Ready. Joe learned many
important lessons from his father’s active political career. He was the youngest re-elected Town Meeting
Representative for Chelmsford. Joe attributes his three Representative
wins to his strong sense of community and willingness to make himself
available to the community.
Being active in the community started at a young age for Joe. He began his
involvement by becoming a member of the Boy Scouts. Joe earned the high
rank of Eagle Scout after building a Skater’s Pavilion for the Robert’s
Field Friendship Park as his community project. The Pavilion is used by
skaters as a safe place to change their skates before ice skating on the
town pond. Working with Town Officials such as the Conservation
Commission, Board of Selectman and Town Manager, Joe was able to bring
this community project to fruition.
In 2000, Joe moved to Boston to further his education at Suffolk
University. Joe decided on the non-traditional pathway, in which he
worked full time at Suffolk Law School and took year-round classes at
night. This busy and ambitious schedule left Joe with little free time,
however it did give him a chance to step back and look at the
communities needs.
Working full time gave Joe the opportunity to purchase a condo in the
Fenway. As a homeowner, he is concerned about the rising taxes on home
owners, and also understands that high rents are impinging the integrity
of this city. Joe is a strong advocate for affordable housing.
Recently, the Saint Stephen Street Condominium Association was having
trouble with the management of their building. As one of three trustees
of the Condo Association, Joe is currently in the process of converting
the four buildings to a better management system. As in his youth, he still enjoys
getting involved during tough situations and solving diverse problems
within his community.
One recent community service endeavor Joe participated in was the 2004
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 3-Day walk. As team-leader, Joe
motivated his teammates for fund-raising and training for this special
event. By raising over $10,000 and walking 60 miles over the course of
three days, Joe added his contribution to the research, education, and
future cure of breast cancer.
Since graduating from Suffolk University with a degree in Business
Administration-Entrepreneurship, Joe is eager to step up and make a
difference.
